Real people. Real stories. Real change.
Quitting smoking, vaping or using tobacco is never easy and every journey is different. Some people start small. Some hit bumps along the way. But they all have 1 thing in common: they chose to try.
These stories come from Yukoners who worked with Quitpath and found their own path forward. We hope their honesty and courage helps you feel less alone and a little more ready to take your next step.
Ondine’s Story
“I was diagnosed with COPD and hospitalized for pneumonia at 56 years old. After not being able to breathe, and after smoking for 40 years, I finally was able to quit smoking. The Quitpath program saved me from completely suffering through the transition to becoming a non-smoker! I don’t know what I would’ve done and not sure I would’ve be able to quit!”
Darcy’s Story
“I smoked cigarettes, pipe tobacco and ‘roll-your-owns’ for 40 years. I tried dozens of times to quit. Nothing ever ‘stuck’… Finally, with the help of (Emily and) the good folks at Quitpath and the patch, spray and individual ‘check-in’s’ I kicked it for good. For me, the individual calls were key… I’d done all the other things before and failed. It was the one-on-one, positive reinforcement I received that made it ‘stick’.”
From a Quitpath participant
“Unfortunately, I started a very addictive habit of chewing tobacco at the age of 14. It wasn’t until much later in life that I realized the mistake I made. I struggled with trying to correct this mistake with little help until I found out about Quitpath. This program has given me the tools I need to finally break the cycle. I haven’t completed my journey to being nicotine-free yet but at least have got off chewing tobacco.
With the tools provided in this program and the dedication from their quit coach to see it through, I now have the confidence that I will beat this addiction for good. I know I will live a life nicotine-free in the months to come. Thanks so much to everyone involved in this program.”
Carrie’s Story
“I have smoked cigarettes for 35 years – since I was 13 or 14. Smoking was my crutch. I smoked anytime, in any weather. I have quit in the past on Champix… then I returned to smoking. Then, in 2023 I was diagnosed with multiple health conditions including COPD. It scared me but I was still so addicted to smoking. I had to sit down and think long and hard about my life and about smoking.
I looked into support resources to help me quit and came across the Quitpath program. It wasn’t easy for me to contact them, but I did. It was the first, baby step on my journey. Quitpath will help you on your journey. Don't be afraid to try. The pros sure outweighed the cons for me. If you slip along the way, don’t be hard on yourself. It’s your journey, and it takes many times to try and quit. I wish anyone good luck on this journey.”
Nicholas’ Story
“Quitting smoking sucks, and I’m never doing it again. It wouldn’t have been possible without Quitpath. I'd effectively given up on ever quitting, and just figured smoking was how I was going to die.
But when I was ready, knowing I could call the Quitpath coaches anytime, and that NRT was available to me for free, anytime I needed it, however I needed it, meant I could finally do the thing I never thought I could.
My last cigarette was on April 24th, 2025. For the first time since I was 17, I’m completely free of nicotine, and confident I’ll stay that way. You should give Quitpath a call. They can help.”
