Nicotine Inhaler

Nicotine inhalers deliver nicotine through “puffing”. The nicotine is absorbed in the mouth, throat and upper respiratory tract. Possible side effects are:

  • Throat and mouth irritation

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Indigestion

How to use the nicotine inhaler

  • Use about 6 cartridges per day
  • A single cartridge lasts for approximately 80-400 puffs or 20 minutes of continuous puffing
  • Do not puff deeply into the lungs
  • Use as much or as little as needed
  • Use more frequently at first, and at times when you most crave cigarettes
  • You may notice a burning, warm or cool sensation when inhaling, this is okay unless it becomes bothersome
  • Clean the inhaler on a regular basis with soap and water
  • You may be ready to stop using the inhaler after you are down to 1 or 2 cartridges per day
